I’m spending at least 3-4 weeks until now for searching a good WordPress starter theme which can help me deploy a website in WP 5.0 quickly. But it’s hard to find.

Well, then I decide to create my own starter theme.

Local development tools

It just needs to wrap with a few things I need the most: webpack, browsersync to keep a great local development stage.

WordPress Features

Then I tried to add as much as WordPress theme support features, like:

Custom Logo

It is a very simple feature, but most themes from WP.org don’t have a good catch. I uploaded a logo, then it breaks a theme instant. lol

Sync styles between backend and frontend.

It’s a Gutenberg idea. But not much theme adapt that. I think maybe a few can do that.

The backend thing

Many WordPress guru thinks about simplify, but then they asked too much different things follow their mind. It’s hard to touch by any newbie, even Junior or Mid level, because we have too different mindset.

I touched a Twenty Nineteen theme, tried to understand what is needed and anyone can understand it.

Custom Gutenberg blocks must be ready!

Yeah! My first idea is some custom Gutenberg blocks must be used from a theme, not by a single plugin. Because it must fit a theme style, with a clear style and ready to use.

The progress

I’m planning to release it official in 15 Jan 2019, with a few goals. At least if they can help someone like me, I think it can adapt what we worry about how to start with Gutenberg from a theme way.
